Bodie Island Lighthouse
Bodie Island Lighthouse (pronounced
Body), stands 158 feet and projects its beam a range of 19 miles.
Its powerful First Order Fresnel Lens, was first lit on October 1,
1872 and was maintained by a light keeper until 1932 when the lens
was electrified. Bodie Island Lighthouse remains a functioning
U.S. Coast Guard navigational aid to this day.
