Outer Banks Photo Gallery | Outer Banks Pictures | OBX Photos The Outer Banks of North Carolina are a beautiful string of barrier islands separated from the North Carolina mainland by sounds and inlets. The Outer Banks stretch more than 175 miles along the coast. The largest of the barrier islands include Hatteras, Ocracoke, Bodie, Portsmouth, and the Core Banks. The Outer Banks unique geography consists of three capes: Cape Hatteras, Cape Lookout, and Cape Fear. These capes and their dangerous shoals have long played havoc with mariners and as a result the Outer Banks is known as the Graveyard of the Atlantic today. Mariners have long relied upon the distinct lighthouses of the Outer Banks to guide them through the dangerous waters and shoals. Today it is easy to forget the purpose of these majestic beacons, but in a time not so long ago, they played a crucial role to the mariners transporting goods to many of the ports along our eastern seaboard. The lighthouses that line the Outer Banks are: Currituck Beach, Bodie, Cape Hatteras, Ocracoke, Cape Lookout, and Bald Head Island (better known as Old Baldy). Personally,
the Outer Banks of North Carolina has special meaning. I have been
coming here since before my earliest recollections. Whether it was a
vacation with my grandparents to Whalebone Junction (Nags Head) and
later Corolla or just a day of surfing with friends in High School,
the Outer Banks has been an integral part of my life. The goal of my
photography is to capture the natural beauty of the Outer Banks, which
I believe is one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the
United States. My Outer Banks collection is quite extensive so if you
have a project that is in need of that perfect photograph please
